Job Description

Reliance Logistics Inc in Surrey, BC is looking for an experienced and skilled Truck Drivers Supervisor to join at the earliest.

Job Duties

  • Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of workers who operate trucks, trailers, and long combination of vehicles in Canada and US for Reliance Logistics Inc
  • Supervising employee performance, allocating driver assignments, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining all vehicles in top working order
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments
  • Train new hires in company policies, job duties, safety procedures, emergency procedures, logbook maintenance, bills of landing, GPS usage, Map reading etc
  • Conduct tests such as pretrip, enroute and post trips for company in the yard, on road for job applicants
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve performance
  • Oversee the loading and unloading of company vehicles
  • Requisition materials and supplies
  • Recommend personnel actions such as hiring and promotions
  • Dispatch company drivers and monitor routes to ensure schedules are met and to resolve operating problems
  • Prepare work reports and budgets, and monitor expenditures
  • Place and receive orders for parts required to maintain fleet functionality
  • May be asked to perform the same duties as workers supervised (truck drivers) when required by the management

Eligibility requirements

  • Completion of Secondary school is required. A college program or Bachelors’ degree will be an asset to have.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a commercial driver or operator in the industry is required.
  • Good communication skills in English is a must with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ideally Class 1 license from ICBC, or license equivalent to class 1 from elsewhere.

Employment Requirements

  • Completion of Secondary school is required.
  • Class 1 or A Driver’s License and Air brake endorsement are required.
  • 1-2 years experience is desirable. However, No experience is necessary. On the job training will be provided to willing candidates.
  • Proficiency to communicate in basic English.
  • Willing to travel across border, for extended periods, overnight and drive as a team.
  • Ability to communicate with dispatcher and other drivers using two-way radio, cellular phone.
  • Clean driving record.

Job Duties

  • Operate and drive the long-haul trucks to transport the freight to and from the destination.
  • Must follow all the safety procedure required to transport the goods and should ensure that the freight is properly secure.
  • Plan the trips accordingly and have all the necessary documents required for transportation.
  • Can perform pre trip, post trip and vehicle inspection including the systems, the cargo, tires, brake system.
  • Can easily navigate the vehicle in any kind of weather condition and areas.
  • Can administer bills and maintain the logbooks manually or computerised.
  • Make records of the cargo, the hours of services, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
  • Can communicate through the communication systems with the other drivers, dispatchers and customers.
  • Able to do roadside repairs when necessary
  • Able to drive as part of 2-person team.
